Earth Wisdom Tarot Sacred Art

Weekly Wisdom: Truth, Candor and Clarity

in Card of the Week, Tarot

The Guardian of Air turns up to preside over the Gemini lunation. Not so surprising! The New Moon in Gemini / Solar Eclipse that took place yesterday will be reverberating for quite awhile to come.

The Guardian of Air / Queen of Swords is the One who looks you directly in the eye and calls you on your cr*p. She won’t let you get away with anything. No more hiding, no more excuses, no more telling stories to yourself about why you can’t do whatever it is that your heart is calling you to do.

Once you’ve cut away all that is extraneous — what is left? Clarity and strategies for moving forward.

Here’s what I wrote about the Guardian of Air in the Gaian Tarot companion book:

The Guardian of Air is a yogini whose bare feet don’t feel the cold of the snow. This is not a woman who puts up with pretensions or incompetence in others. Her challenging gaze pierces you like a knife. She looks straight into your soul, shining a light on even the dustiest corners. She has removed herself from mainstream society, preferring the starkness and solitude of a mountaintop. She has spent so much time in meditation and prayer that she has expanded her awareness to experience the entire cosmos. From this vantage point high in the mountains, as you listen to the toning of the singing bowl — what becomes crystal clear to you about your life? She guards and nurtures the qualities of communication, decision-making, strategy, prayer and meditation. Her ally is Snowy Owl, who offers the gifts of prophecy, insight and clarity, whether in full daylight or darkest night.

When you get this card in a reading . . .

The Guardian of Air brings clarity to every situation, even if it hurts. She sees straight through to the core of things, making her very candid and direct. She teaches us to cut away everything that is extraneous, until only the truth of the matter remains. She bestows gifts of skillful communication, whether writing, speaking, or editing. The Guardian of Air places great value on self-discipline and has little patience with those who do not. This may be reflected in an autonomous, or austere lifestyle. Now is not the time to shrink from making difficult decisions. It is time to speak the truth loudly, boldly, and with great integrity.

What challenge does the Guardian of Air bring to you, dear Reader?

Thoughtful, sparkling comments. . .

I’m so glad (and truly amazed) that the Guardian of Air is the wisdom for this week. I have felt Her presence in my life over the past month like a whirlwind! I have learned some very hard truths about myself during this time, and I think I needed a swift kick in the you-know-what to get myself to understand that I am not where I should be. There have been so many changes for me that have truly cut away what does not serve me and have forced me to live in that austere way until I can get myself back on track. It has hurt, but I know it was necessary and I felt Her hand in all of this, guiding me. I am grateful. Blessed Be.

Danielle, so glad the Guardian here confirms your own process. She kicked my b*tt this week too! And it’s only Wednesday. 🙂

Remember to be kind and gentle with yourself!

I have always had a deep sense of connection with the Guardian of Air, and it is a joy to see her here, direct and intuitive and filled with the wisdom of the Ancestral Mothers. She appears often in my readings, and I love it when she does.

Cate, it doesn’t surprise me that the G of Air is one of your key cards. She does remind me of you, with your camera and your clear vision. Blessed be!
