Weekly Wisdom: Mind, Heart & Birdsong

in Card of the Week, Nature, Tarot

Gaian Tarot Explorer of AirThe Explorer of Air appeared as the Card of Week just 3 weeks ago . . . and it also turned up 3 more times while I was at the Readers Studio, once most notably while Caitlin Matthews was speaking about the augury of the wind. And it’s the card I highlighted last week in my friend Chris Chisholm’s article on the Language of the Birds. So, clearly, this card has deep wisdom for me. I’m still deciphering its message.

What thoughts come up for you about this card, dear Reader?

Many thanks to the birds who live around Rainbow Cottage for joining me on this video. 😉

Thoughtful, sparkling comments. . .

This card always reminds me of Luke Skywalker, very specifically from ‘The Empire Strikes Back’. In that movie Luke is learning things (situations, his mentors/heroes/enemies) are not always what they seem. Everything is multifaceted, even he is.

Despite seeing the miracles that Master Yoda is preforming right in front of him he still clings to his ‘black and white’ view of the world until he is deeply injured (Vader cutting off his had & reveling being his father) and forced to look at take another look at the people and things in his world.

It seemed to me Luke’s unwillingness to take a wider view ended up causing him to do things the hard way, ie. come up with a rescue plans A,B, & C with/for his friends and completing his training on his own.

I wonder how many times I’ve clung to my own way of looking at things without taking a deeper look at all the other views around me. How many times did I have to do things the hard way when I could have seen a simpler solutions by getting distance from the situations/people?

When this card comes up in a reading for me, I tend to go back through my journals to see if there is something that given distance I could gain more wisdom from.

I love that, Dionne. I’m going to add that to my repertoire of meanings for the card. Thank you.

Had a long drive today that gave me more time to ponder this one. In addition to the fact that Luke is literally a ‘sky walker’ learning how to maneuver the sky/air realm by controlling his thoughts to channel the Force, in several of the books (which continues his story after the Battle on Endor) Luke goes in search of other students around the galaxy to rebuild the Jedi training academy. So you Joanna could be considered a modern day Jedi Master opening up the doors of your Tarot academy! May the Force be with you! (tee hee!)
