Gaian Tarot Card of the Week: The Sun

Gaian Tarot Sun

Gaian Tarot Sun

Sometimes, you have to admit, the Tarot just has a wicked sense of humor. In response to my question, “What do I most need to keep in mind, during the Holy Week of Winter Solstice / Full Moon Lunar Eclipse and Family Christmas?”, I pulled . . . the Sun.

The Gaian Sun is far from a traditional Tarot Sun card, which often shows the Child of Wonder (aka the Newborn Sun) riding on the back of a white horse. But it does convey the joy and radiance we feel at this pivotal point on the Wheel of the Year, when the days (oh so minutely!) begin to lengthen, and we can believe again in the promise of Spring.

Besides being a literal depiction of the sun symbolism of Winter Solstice, this card expresses the joy that I feel when I count my blessings and stand in a place of gratitude. Despite health challenges and personal challenges, 2010 has to stand as one of my best years, ever.  My 20-something self and my 30-something self would never have believed that Life would be at its best in my late 50’s. To life! L’chaim!

A most Blessed Winter Solstice and Christmas Festival to you!

Thoughtful, sparkling comments. . .

I did a few readings last night during the eclipse and you (9 of Earth, that is) showed up in ever single one of them! And yes, I shuffled carefully. I have a feeling it’s going to be a good year 🙂

Nelly – that’s pretty wild! So glad you will carry the 9 of Earth energy into your year. Tracie, Blessed Solstice and Christmas to you and yours as well!

I pulled the 9 of Water for this season and I have to say it has been so so good to feel the energy of this card. On the 18th I went to a Winter Solstice Wisdom workshop/ritual and took my daughter for her 1st workshop, spent the next 2 days in silence then on Solstice day took my kids to Stone Mountain Park for a day Snow day. They had tons of stuff to do~ snow tubing, an area to make snowmen and have snowball fights, unlimited hot chocolate, fire pits for warmth and smores, a sing-a-long train ride, and shows. We had hoped to be able to watch the eclipse but by that time a bunch of clouds had rolled in so we called it a day. Spending the whole day outside with scattered showers was a wonderful way to connect with Spirit…it just compounded the lessons I’ve been learning from 3 of Water as well.

Dionne, that sounds like a truly perfect Solstice day! Or several days, rather. Makes me happy to hear about it. BTW I loved the photo of your daughter as the Lucy Bride that you posted on your blog.
