Raffle! Lucia Party eBook Giveaway!

in Books, Wheel of the Year, Yule

Lucia altarI’m giving away three copies of my new eBook, “A Crown of Candles: How to Throw a Fabulous Lucia Party” !!!!

Just leave a comment below, and I will choose THREE NAMES at random this weekend. I’ll announce the winners here on Monday November 8th.  Best of luck!

If you’ve read this blog for any length of time, you’ve read my posts about our annual Lucia Party, like this one or this one.  Last year I asked if any of you would appreciate a “how-to” book, and you answered with a resounding “Yes!”  So here it is . . . in time for you to plan your own party, or incorporate some of the ideas into your Winter Solstice or Yule ceremonies and rituals.

Here’s what a few people have said about the eBook & companion website:

“We are in the midst of preparing a celebration about St. Lucia at Midwinter, in a series of seasonal celebrations in the Protestant Church in the Netherlands. We use A Crown of Candles in our preparations. It helps us to understand what St. Lucia is about and we are inspired by the many activities we can choose from. We love the scripts for the ‘Numinous Beings,’ especially the script of the Child of Wonder. Well written and open all to ways of life.” — Berthe van Soest, member of the team Feest van Aarde en Hemel

“You have successfully woven the Spiritual (all those carefully researched Legends and Stories)with the Practical (mouthwatering recipes and bless you for including the instructions on making the Crown of Candles!) into a Solstice Celebration Tapestry that could rightly take its place among anything already established.” — Lady North, British Columbia

“I was entranced with the video you posted last year, and thought it was a delightful way to spend an evening during the holiday season.  When I saw the eBook, I was truly impressed with its beauty and organization. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow.  There is even a sample invitation, recipes, song lists . . . I could go on. I am a fan of Waverly Fitzgerald and she is given a nod in this magnificent collection.  I imagine that my own Santa Lucia party is not far off!” — Jo-Ann S., Michigan

Thanks everybody!  Enjoy!

Being of Swedish decent I tried to get my girls to wear the candles on their heads and serve me breakfast. It was a no go. But, I’m planning on starting younger with my two granddaughters. I do make Limpa bread for yule every year and cardamom coffee cake for my swedish mother.

  • Pat Fri - Nov 05th 2010 8:42 am

Over the years, I’ve enjoyed reading your blog posts about the annual Lucia Party. What a wonderful spirit filled way to honour the season. It would be a great privilege to win one of your new ebooks. Currently, I celebrate the winter season with a Celtic New Year’s Party, usually held within the first week of November. Last year, with the move to a new town and home, I invited my new neighbours and friends to a Winter Solstice and tree trimming celebration. It was such a success that I plan to continue the tradition. Keeping my fingers crossed for luck and wishing all other members of this community the same good fortune.

  • Carolyn Cushing Fri - Nov 05th 2010 11:35 am

  • Kelly Sun - Nov 07th 2010 3:06 am

If I don’t win I’m buying myself one anyway! 🙂

  • sigaliris Sun - Nov 07th 2010 7:12 am

I hope I’m not too late to put my name in the hat. Searching for new traditions–if that’s not too much of a contradiction–and this looks like a beautiful one. My daughter was in a Waldorf pre-school and once received a Lucia serenade at dawn from older students. She has never forgotten that!

  • Mariele Sun - Nov 07th 2010 1:25 pm

Thank you for this book. My granddaughter is named Lucy. We are already planning a St. Lucia Party December 13th.

  • Joanna Mon - Nov 08th 2010 8:01 am

Between here and Facebook, I had 55 entries! Thanks everybody!!

I wrote down all the names on pieces of paper and tossed them into a bowl and mixed them up. (Low tech here.) Craig pulled 3 names out, and one more floated to the ground, so I decided to give away 4!

And the raffle winners are: Jessica Olsen, Pat Boutilier, Joanne Kucinskas and Julia Clay. Woo hoo! I’ll send you each an email.

Hoping the rest of you will want to buy a copy. Thanks and Blessings!
