Builder Spread

In the Gaian Tarot Circle, we have just finished up our study of the Builder (Emperor) card. One of the study assignments each month is to create a spread based on the current card we’re studying. GTC member Teresa Youngblood came up with this spread, which I find simple and elegant. Thanks for letting me share it, Teresa!

This spread might work well as someone contemplates a project in the early stages.

1: The qualities I need to bolster in myself to build the future I want. (In the card, this card position corresponds to the Builder figure.)

2: The foundation of the plan for my project, where I need to be solid before moving upward. (Positions 2,3, and 4 represent the wooden support pole.)

3: Halfway there, at the point where my attention or enthusiasm may wane. Issues, challenges, or unexpected gifts I might encounter.

4: Nearing the finish. What I need to complete my project, to stick with it, bring it to fulfillment, and release it when it’s finished.

Alternatively, Positions 2,3, and 4 could be read together to give a general idea of what challenges and surprises the project may hold for the Builder.

I tried the spread out, asking what I need to know about getting the word out about my new Lucia Party ebook.

1: The qualities I need to bolster in myself to build the future I want. (In the card, the Builder figure.)

The WheelThe Wheel

“Change is imminent. One part of a cycle is becoming another. What is passing away in your life right now, and what is coming into being?” Oh yes. I am moving from creating the ebook and companion into sharing it with my community (aka marketing). This is also reflected in the literal changing of the seasons, as Summer gives way to Fall, and since my mind has been on the coming season of Winter Solstice because of the content of the ebook. My eye is caught by the fire at the center of the earth: the still point of the turning wheel.  That is the quality I need to bolster in myself to build the outcome I want: remaining calm and centered in the midst of change and activity.

2: The foundation of the plan for my project, where I need to be solid before moving upward.

EIght of Fire8 of Fire

“Act quickly when inspiration strikes.”  Take the time to jot down all my ideas for the launch plan, sales paln and emails I’ll be sending out. The foundation has to do with getting into action quickly — not waiting another month, as I had been considering. Interesting!

3: Halfway there, at the point where my attention or enthusiasm may wane. Issues, challenges, or unexpected gifts I might encounter

Elder of FireElder of Fire

More inspiration, transformation and magic! When my energy fades, I need to remember that I am She. I am (metaphorically) the wise magical elder, passing on my wisdom — the wisdom of creating magical, meaningful holiday celebrations. People want what I have to offer. And it wouldn’t hurt to burn some sage and lavender on my altar, either.

4.  Nearing the finish. What I need to complete my project, to stick with it, bring it to fulfillment, and release it when it’s finished.

Two of EarthTwo of Earth

I need to balance more than one thing at a time, adapt to a chaotic situation, and do it with grace. This goes back to the strength and power of the Elder of Fire and also to staying centered at the still point of the turning wheel in the Wheel card. And this is indeed something I can do.

This reading is very encouraging to me.  Thank you, HoneyTree / Teresa!

I’d love to hear your comments on this spread and on this reading, dear Readers.

Thoughtful, sparkling comments. . .
