Now there is an interesting question: If you could see yourself in a tarot card, which one would it be? The reason so many people see you in the Sun card, perhaps, is not so much the face or the body or whatever, but the attitude. And that’s a Good Thing. If I saw myself in a tarot card it would probably be the Nine of Earth — the woman content with her solitude and her animal/bird companions — or, alas, the Nine of Air, being nibbled on by ice weasels in the middle of the night! 🙂
Ice weasels? What an image!
Interesting about the 9 of Earth as a choice, because that is the
card that I had intended from the beginning to be a self-portrait in
the Gaian Tarot. It would show me in my garden here on the island with
my cats and the local songbirds, content, at home, rooted in a special
Place. Recently my friend (and yours) Sharonah, who lives in
Manhattan, mentioned to me that she sees herself as the Nine of Earth
too. Her version of the card would show her holding her cats (we do
like our cats, don’t we?), but standing in Central Park, with the New
York skyline in the background. I like that image too.
My interpretation of the 9’s is that they all show a solitary person
at a certain level of self-mastery and contentment, a pinnacle or high
point of sorts, before moving on to the transition of the 10’s. And so
I’ve been thinking lately that, instead of doing my self-portrait as
the 9 of Earth, I think it will be the 9 of Water — and I’ll use one of the photos that Kat took of me in Merlin’s Cave in Cornwall as the photo reference, when I was having that mystical experience there singing to the Ocean Mother.
And so I ask you, dear Reader: If you could see yourself as the model for a Tarot card, which one would it be?
