I just had to smile when I pulled this card from my deck last night. I’ve been working on my own goals, projects and action items for my two Big Dreams this year: my health and my business. My intention was to light a candle at my altar on the Capricorn New Moon and to make a commitment in sacred space to these goals, which I did early this morning. This New Moon / Solar Eclipse is within 3 degrees of my natal Sun, so I know it’s a particularly potent New Moon for me. As astrologer Lynn Hayes says,
This eclipse opens up an opportunity to restabilize our foundations and to discover what is truly real in our lives. Capricorn doesn’t really care about magic or imagination – it has no patience for dreaming of possibilities yet to come. Its focus is on the practical – what will serve us in our quest to become more successful at being human. That is the focus for the energy that is coming through now.
What a great influence to aid us in our planning for a new year. I have always felt that a new year offered a clean slate with which to begin anew. Not to make resolutions that are too easily broken, but to make decisions that will help us to move closer to a life that we can really love. Under this New Moon, allow yourself to discover what is real for you.
And the Seven of Earth counsels us to “set a goal for yourself that involves long-term planning on a practical level. Don’t expect to see results immediately, but be content to know that you are working slowly and steadily toward your goal. Be patient. You’re not on your own timeline here — instead, you’re on Mother Earth’s schedule. You are learning to live in synch with Her rhythms and cycles. Trust that your efforts are worthwhile, even if you don’t see the fruits of your labors for a very long time — like a red cedar sapling reaching toward the sky, transforming a clearcut into a temperate old growth rainforest.” (from the Gaian Tarot companion book)
Eric Klein of WisdomHeart.org recently wrote about the “drip system” for meditation. Three minutes a day of meditation, he says, is better than one hour once a week.
The same is true for a health plan and for making progress with your business. Do something every day, no matter how small, to move forward toward your goals. You don’t come into optimal health overnight, and you don’t make buckets of money overnight either. But small steps build momentum and before you know it, your life is different. Better. More whole.
I raise my green smoothie glass to you!
