My mermaid sister Nora started her blog today.  It’s called Crossing the Threshold, such an appropriate name for her work as a death midwife.  She writes movingly in her first post about standing on the threshold today, with the death of a close friend last week still fresh as she awaits the imminent birth of her first grandchild.

Some years ago Nora posed for me for this image, which appeared in the 2003 SageWoman calendar as the Goddess of the Threshold.  We didn’t know then how important the archetype of the threshold would become in her life and work.

But then we always knew that art is magic, didn’t we?

Thoughtful, sparkling comments. . .
